Jesus said that His followers would suffer trouble (tribulation) and persecution in this world. That is a fact of history – including recent history. The Bible tells us to help our brothers and sisters who suffer and are in physical need. The Apostle Paul is a great example of a Christian leader who raised supportive ‘offerings’ for suffering believers in Jerusalem. The writer to Hebrews reminded believers to remember ‘those who are mistreated—since you yourselves are in the body also” (Hebrews 13:3).

The Christians who have lost their homes, churches, ministry offices, and ways of earning a living have certainly been mistreated. I know some of them personally and have mentioned their needs in the past. However, this recent attack by Muslim extremists on our Christian brothers and sisters deserves our immediate attention.

One solution to this problem is to help raise supportive ‘offerings’ for suffering believers in this area of Pakistan that came under attack. I’ll share where you can send your support in a moment, but first the need. This list is from a Christian leader I know personally. I’ve also spoken at length with the ministry’s director for Asia to confirm the need. For security reasons, I will not reveal names of Christians living in the area but I do know them personally and can vouch for the integrity of their ministry.

I asked a friend and Christian leader in the area of the attack about the situation and he responded –

Thank you for your love and prayers for our people. We are in much trouble. But we thank God we and our all brothers and sisters who have been affected, lost their houses and all things, are strong in their faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

It’s wonderful to see that these attacks have not deterred them from faithfully following our Lord Jesus Christ. However, we Christians in America should not think that means we do not have a responsibility to help them. Christians in Pakistan face serious problems and needs.

My dear Brother Mark, please appeal to all brothers and sisters to pray for the quick support for brothers and sisters who have been affected in Jaranwala.

  1. We need the dry food and the blankets for 133 families because the winter season has been started and they are getting flue, cough and cold. Unfortunately, the Muslim hospital and doctors don’t like to attend the Christian patients. The cost of one package is $150 The 10 families get Dry food = $1500 The 20 families get Dry food =$3000 The 50 families get Dry food = $7500 The 100 families get Dry food = $15000 The total 133 families get Dry food = $19,950
  2. The clean drinking water has become the biggest issue for them. They had water plants but these all water plants belonged to the Muslims and they had stopped our brothers and sisters from getting water from these water plants. Now we are praying for the provisions of God to plant two Water plants and to distribute some water filters. The cost of one water Plant =$5000 The cost of one water filter = $50
  3. The biggest challenge has been raised for the children because the Muslim schools don’t allow them to sit in the classrooms. The teachers say them go and sit in the Christian schools and if you want to come here then accept Islam. The cost of one child to get accommodation, food and schooling = $850 annually.
  4. Motorcycles of our 3 Pastors were burnt down during the incident and now they are not able to their work place and they cannot go to visit other villages to preach the gospel. The cost of one Motorcycle = $995
  5. We need to restart the Women sewing training Centre. The cost to restart Sewing Centre = $1500

My friend also told me that six children under the care of their ministry got stomach and intestinal infection due to ‘the starvation.’ He said that three children became dehydrated and an adult brother in Christ also has a serious problem. He sent them to a hospital in another city, but they are all in very serious condition. He ended by writing – “Please pray for them and try your best to send the funds as soon as possible if you can raise something.”
